2. A registration fee of $100.00 is mandatory for all 6U through 18U players and is due at the time of registration or no later than the tryout/evaluation date. The registration fee is required to be paid in order to participate in tryouts/evaluations and is non-refundable.
3. A player commitment fee of $150.00 is required for all registered players and is due no later than April 24th or within one week of team placement.
4. Tuition payments for the 2021-22 season, for all levels, are due in-full by September 1st. If payment is not received in-full by September 1st a late fee of $100.00 can be assessed and the players will not be allowed to participate in any Brewins events until paid-in-full. All payments are required to be paid online through the Brewins website. Monthly payments (April - August) are strongly recommended to ensure your balance is paid in full by September 1st. U18 tuition of $780.00 is not refundable and is not transferable.
5. Multi-Player Discounts: The financially responsible parent or guardian will receive a $50 tuition discount for one younger sibling. Players registered in House League, Rookie Development and 18U are excluded from Multi-Player Discounts. It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to record the sibling when completing the 2021-22 PLAYER APPLICATION and to deduct appropriately from the younger sibling's tuition payment.
6. Given the current restrictions, players must enter the arena fully dressed in gear, less skates and helmet, and shall not enter the building more than 15 minutes prior to their scheduled event. Tryout/evaluation numbers will be provided and should be attached to the nameplate section of their jersey. All players must be registered for the 2021-22 season before they will be given a tryout/evaluation number. It is anticipated that the format will be explained to players and all sessions will begin promptly. Specific dates and times will be communicated to all registrants and will begin no sooner than March 15th. Dates and times are subject to change.
Please save the evaluation number for the entire evaluation process. The player must skate with the same evaluation number in all evaluation sessions.
7. All players should bring a light and a dark jersey with them to all tryout/evaluation sessions, preferably a jersey that does not display the players name.
Please do not wear Brewins issued game jerseys, as your player will be asked to remove and wear a practice jersey.
8. All players (10U - 18U) should decide on a position that they would like to try out for. However, if a player makes a team as defense, they could be asked to play forward (and vice versa).
TRYOUT/EVALUATION SESSIONS
The evaluation process has been designed to provide a fair and objective evaluation of all players. Regular season games and coach’s evaluations are not tryouts. These are tools for assisting with the proper placement of all players.
It is anticipated that each level will have two tryout/evaluation sessions. Tryout/evaluation sessions will consist of drills displaying a player's skating, shooting, puck handling, and goaltending skills and abilities as well as scrimmage games to bring out and to understand a player's hockey sense and pace of play. All skaters and goaltenders will be evaluated throughout the course of these evaluations.
EVALUATION PROCESS
Evaluators for evaluations may consist of the Vice President, Coaching Coordinator, Level Directors, and/or selected Brewins Coaches and Brewins Youth Hockey Board Members. All evaluations will be submitted to the Brewins Youth Hockey President to validate fairness and authenticity in the selection process.
Evaluation scoring and results are the property of the Brewins Youth Hockey Association. These results are only disclosed to the President, Vice President, Coaching Coordinator and Level Directors of the Brewins Youth Hockey Association. This policy is set forth to protect the participants' scoring and identity.
Player placement will be based on skill, ability, and the total number of players at a particular level. Every effort will be made to place (12) to (13) skaters and (1) goaltender on each team at the conclusion of the evaluation process. No team will be completely filled during the evaluation process or over the summer. The Level Director will fill any spots with the approval of the Coaching Coordinator.
Every effort will be made to complete player movement that the Board of Directors deems necessary before the end of the second week of practices in September. However, Brewins Youth Hockey does reserve the right to transfer players between any team at any time.
PLAYER NOTIFICATION
Players will not be called directly by the Brewins to be notified about team placement. All rosters will be posted on the Brewins website after the 2021-22 coaches are selected. Please do not contact Brewins Youth Hockey inquiring about evaluation results. It is anticipated that teams will be posted on or before April 30th.
Team placement will be posted on the Brewins website at: http://www.brewinsyouthhockey.com
Players will not be moved from team to team for reasons such as carpooling, convenience, friendships, etc.
BEHAVIOR CODE
PLAYERS - Inappropriate behavior by a skater on or off the ice during the evaluations will be reflected in a "marking down" of the player's overall score or removed from that evaluation. Inappropriate behavior includes, but is not limited to, penalty situations, such as illegal checking, elbowing, tripping and harassment of other players, verbally or physically, on or off the ice.
PARENTS - Inappropriate behavior by a parent during the evaluation process will lead to the remove of the parent from the evaluations. Parents shall not make any contact with their player verbally or physically while the evaluations are in process in fairness to the other players.
